Cathy Munnier
Certified Dog Trainer

I have always been passionate about animals and being around them. The joke in the family is that my first word was “DOG” and from a very early age I would greet all dogs, known and unknown, by throwing my arms around them and giving them hugs and kisses.

I pursued a career in animal care by going to college and securing a degree in Animal Science. I worked for a veterinarian in Queens, NY as a Vet Tech/Assistant for a number of years and more recently worked for a veterinarian in northern Dutchess as a Practice/Hospital Manager for three (3) years.

Before relocating to North Carolina, I was the preferred Behavioral Consultant for a local Dutchess County, NY Court with regard to Dangerous Dog complaints (Dog Bite).  Meeting with the owner and the dog where the incident occurred, I would evaluate owner/handler and dog, further producing a written report including my findings and recommendations to be presented at court through the prosecuting attorney with copies forwarded to the owner as well.  When necessary and requested I would work with the owner and their dog to rehabilitate the dog and train the owner how to best handle their dog to prevent any ongoing problems.

Having a very keen understanding of dogs and a very strong, insightful ability to read them, I decided to pursue my dream of helping owners to establish the best relationships they ever have – those that exist between them and their dogs! Having trained dogs for quite a number of years (over 20, at this point in time) in 2003 I decided to make it official and acquire my certification through Animal Behavior College. I did that with honors and then mentored and worked with some of the best trainers on Long Island at the Dog Obedience Club of South Nassau.

I am a registered AKC CGC (Canine Good Citizen) Evaluator and have obtained additional certifications continually enhancing my skills through ongoing educational programs and seminars to better serve you and your dogs.

I offer In-Home training, and will be offering Group Puppy (AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Program) and Basic Obedience classes, in addition to addressing behavioral problems such as fear issues and how to recondition them, crate training, housebreaking, chewing, nipping and mouthing, jumping and digging.

My dog Skye and I are a Registered Dog Therapy Team visiting local nursing homes and senior residence facilities.
